Hydrangea quercifolia ‘Snowflake’

Oak leaf hydrangeas are deciduous shrubs named after their oak shaped deeply lobed leaves.  ‘Snowflake’ is an award winning shrub that sports large arching conical shaped flower heads reaching up to 12” in length.  They are loaded with creamy white fully double blossoms layered on top of each other in a hose in hose style.  On display from early summer through fall the long lasting displays will slowly fade to shades of rosy pink.  The foliage will gradually turn shades of bronze, crimson or burgundy and after the leaves fall you will  be left with the most amazing cinnamon coloured exfoliating bark.  A beautiful shrub any time of year growing 6’ tall by wide, it will grow well in full to part sun in average well drained soil.  As it blooms on last years wood prune immediately after blooming to the first set of buds below the bloom.
